Nervous? Yes
Inadequate? Yes
Chaotic Schedule? Yes
Totally worth it? Yes
We had a glorious first day of homeschool together. We did a bit of work, and then ran some errands together. It was wonderful just to be together and stress free.
Tonight, Caleb asked if he could say the family prayer. This was his prayer,
"... thank you for the wonderful, wonderful, fun day I was able to have with independent study. Bless me to know how much work this is for mom and bless me to show my appreciation."
And that, my friends, is why homeschool is going to be a wonderful, wonderful adventure.
You are going to do great Amy! We've been doing homeschool here in Chile this year. IT is a challenge and a joy at the same time. Good luck. You have such a great student to work with.
ReplyDeleteWow! Way to go Amy and Caleb. I think that's great. The ones that I have seen successful are those who are committed to the schedule and goals and don't give up. You guys will do awesome!
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to keep me posted on how this is going. I'm considering homeschool for my 6-year-old son. He has ADHD, and the schools don't accomodate kids like that. They just want me to medicate him. I'd like to homeschool him so he can learn in the way HIS brain learns... not the way the 15 other kids in his kindergarten class learn. But I have all the reservations that you have... feeling nervous and inadequate. I'm pondering it for next fall.
ReplyDeletewhat a sweet prayer. love that caleb. good luck to you both!
ReplyDeleteWow, I want to hear all about it! You've been a busy mom :) The temple pictures are beautiful. And so is Josh.
ReplyDeleteI can't think of a better teacher or more grateful student!! :)
ReplyDeleteAmy! You are SO amazing in so many ways!!! I really miss seeing all of you girls. I want to talk to you about homeschooling. Do you go to park groups anymore? I am starting to go again, hope to see you there!
